A friend and I coordinated the purchase of the complete sets. He wanted to end up with the Mono and I the Stereo, so I bought the Mono and he the Stereo, we recorded them and then sent them along in exchange. I’d love to tell you I dreamed up that scheme, but I didn’t. Anyway, that’s why you only saw the Stereo and not the Mono. I have it, just not in the box. I wouldn’t want you to think I’m some kind of slacker.
I waited a year or more to get the Mono when it was pretty cheap, like 100 bucks. Worth it.
You’re probably O.K. with the Mac. If Bose limits the service in the future, there are many independents that work on Macs now, so you shouldn’t have a problem. Bose hasn’t owned them long enough to screw up the design.
Yeah, I know lots of people work on them, it’s the components say 20 years from now that worry me. Right now, if I need a multiplex demodulator for 1965 MAC9000, I can call up McIntosh and they’ll say “we don’t have any, but we’ll manufacture one for you”. Bose will say “tough shit, buy a new piece of gear”.
But it’s as much as the idea of being owned by Bose that irks me. Plus they’re twice the price. Plus everything I hear about Advance Paris is top notch. Plus they are gorgeous. So is the Mac. I’m dealing with a lot of emotion.
Happy birthday to Keith Richard’s for an entirely unexpected an unfathomable 81st time.
The window for the glowing tubes is genius.
Just dropping in to say that Monkey Man is a great jam.
Let It Bleed, is my favorite Rolling Stone album.
What are yall’s “happy songs”? Songs that either make you instantly happy, or songs you play when you want to change your mood? Me and a couple of buddies had this conversation yesterday, sparked by the news that The Gourds are doing a weekend reunion in April (one’s pick was Gin and Juice).
First thing that came to my mind was
Definitely a good mood.
Excellent…I thought about Jimmy Cliff sitting in limbo a bit later
I like that space age bachelor pad Esquivelian music.
