Speaking of The Band, my favorite band, My Morning Jacket, did a cover of “It Makes No Difference” several years ago that was solid.

Covering Otis Redding is usually a bad idea. But Aretha’s “Respect” and Black Crowes’ “Hard to Handle” are two exceptions. Both are excellent.

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to an album, but MMJ is so much fun live. Widespread Panic is my other band I treat the same.

I got hooked on them in ‘05 while on an overnight/layover in La Guardia hearing them on the old World Cafe on NPR.
Saw them twice last year in Austin and Houston (kicking myself for not going to their show in Santa Barbara), planning on seeing them 3x this year in Bend, OR, The Hollywood Bowl, San Deahgo, and, if possible, Red Rocks.
They put on a fantastic live show, imho,
Can’t wait to see Panic in Austin next month.
