Heard of Sig’s but never went there. I miss a lot of things about Houston, so I’ll add that to the list…for the next time I’m around Spec’s downtown. Working there was a fun job, btw.
I work downtown, and it’s easy to swing by there. Only I could linger in there for a long time.
Is Vinal Edge still around?
They are. I’ve been in there a time or two.
Wow that’s good to hear. That place had such a huge influence on me. The owner and employees would let us just hang out and introduce us to new bands and music.
Imagine watching SNL, hearing that the band is called the “B-52s”, expecting them to be some punk/metal outfit, and seeing this:
I had a huge crush on Cindy Wilson.
One of the most enjoyable shows I’ve ever seen, jammed up against the stage at the Armadillo watching the B-52s open for Talking Heads in 1979. I worked a show in January 2020 that she was supposed to be a part of but she got sick and canceled.
Man, I’ve always been a huge Talking Heads fan. Never had the chance to see them live.
They were one of the few bands who appeared to truly be enjoying every second they spent on stage
I’ve seen the B-52s a few times over the years, always a fun show, but I missed that tour. The first time I saw the Talking Heads was in 1980 at the Agora Ballroom in Dallas – the Remain in Light tour. It was great. They had added Adrian Belew, Nona Hendrix, Busta Jones and a couple of others to their touring band. One of the best rock shows I ever attened.
I think most people have a band that completely and perhaps inexplicably irritates the hell out of them.
B-52s are that band for me.
Weezer.
Pearl Jam.
Green Day
Rufus Wainwright
Journey
Aerosmith
