I’ve heard very few new releases this year.
The Vapors - Together, is really good. Especially since it’s their first album in 39 years and they still sound the same! The same loopy bass, staccato guitars, tight drumming, and urgent vocals. Most people only know them from the song, Turning Japanese, but they had many other well done song on their two earlier releases. Anyway, if you liked them then, you will like them now. Also you are old. It’s like the new album was made in '82 and put in a time capsule that was just unearthed.
Also, Alex Winter’s (Bill of Bill and Ted) new documentary release, Zappa, is a must see for anyone who was ever the least bit curious about the man. Of course, Frank Zappa has always been my number one musical hero.
