Looked to me as if the 1B anticipated the SS to sweep across the bag to turn the DP so he threw the ball to the CF side of 2B where he would be. The SS, however, planted himself on the bag and was not where the 1B expected him to be.
I may be inferring too much. Maybe it simply was a bad throw.
Yes, but youād still have to bring Castro in to catch. So youād burn two guys. Plus Castro probably had a better chance at hitting at least a fly ball to plate the go-ahead run.
