Mine are in pretty good shape, as the blue ones were the least used. I just need to get them out of the garage and get them cleaned up.
I have not had the problem, but the problems I do have are that the seats do not spring back up and the padding in the seats is deteriorating.
Nope
Very envious of you all. It will never happen, but if you ever hear of anyone that’s thinking about selling a pair of seats please keep me in mind. Or I might have some memorabilia I could trade, etc. as an alternative to buying them.
A picture of Tony Eusebio?
It had better not be him hitting a ground ball to Walt Weiss.
Too fucking soon
I will sell you mine for…one meeellllion dollars
He can have mine half a meeelion.
Those look fantastic!
I remember calling off “sick” at my previous airline in ‘15 to drive from Austin to AstroHall to pick up my orange Dome seats that I was fortunate to get in the first round of offering. It was well worth the call off.
I regret not sneaking into the Dome that day, though- the service ramp was open and no one was around. Alas.
The orange seats were my favorites and I have my pair in my loft that’s a work in progress at my house in Austin.
I can’t describe the feeling of familiarity I get from that photo even though it has been 20+ years since I have sat in one of those.
A slightly more “upbeat” Eusebio story…
I was sitting in the Pavilion seats (dark charcoal gray in my recollection) during batting practice. Tony was out there shagging fly balls. A kid, about 10 years old, was sitting in the front row and begging any player who came close for a ball. After about 20 minutes of this, Tony walked over and threw him a ball. It was a soft underhand toss, and the kid had a glove… but he still somehow managed to fumble it and dropped the ball into the gap between the outfield fence and the seats. Tony just stood there for about 30 seconds, giving that kid a full on death stare, until the boy literally hung his head in shame. He did not get a second chance…
An older coworker of mine from Houston saw them and said, “I bet some of my beer farts are still in those.”
Just admit it, you dropped the ball.
We once lived in a small village in Kent UK which had 2 pubs–one whose building dated from the 1000s and one that had been a pub since like 1640. Every time I went to either place all I could think of was all the farts in both places over the last 1000ish years. I will not confirm or deny making any contributions.
I don’t drink anymore… but I for sure did. The fart count of a bar is crucial to its quality. Also, the worse a bar bathroom smells the better the bar is. Just my 2 cents.
Your bar had a bathroom? There was no alley handy??
My papaw would take my cousin and me to Astros games in the '60s and early '70s. We would get there in time for the gates to open and sit in the pavilion front row center every time. Kids tickets were $0.50.
Once, I couldn’t go to the Saturday game for some reason so Papaw, my uncle and cousin went. My cousin Dan, about age 6 at the time, had brought a Marks-A-Lot from Mamaw’s drawer with him and drew something on the adjacent seat. Papaw was not amused.
I joined them for the Sunday game and we got there before they opened the gates and got to our customary seats. This time, Dan had a small plastic bucket, some cleanser, and a brush with him. He knelt down and scrubbed that seat and had to tell everyone around us why.
I would have loved to have those seats.
There was actual real video evidence of Tucker fielding in the OF before the game. He said he felt good afterwards.
Sorry for derailing the Astrodome chair thread.
From the AP wire:
Houston: Kyle Tucker was injured in a bizarre incident at Minute Maid Park. While fielding flyballs as part of his comeback from injury he was struck in the head by a flying chair from the now abandoned Astrodome.
