Not if the injury is worse than publicly acknowledged. This was discussed at length a while back on MLB Radio by two former GM’s. They both agreed it’s unusual, but not unheard of. It can be very tricky and very painful, and like an Achilles, hamstring, plantar fasciitis (see Carlos Correa last year and this) etc. it can take time.
And as long as the Astros are winning, and they are, why rush him?
I’m not going to have the reaction to you your post that some will on here, but your take is way off base. You honestly think no other team would trade for Kyle Tucker, who was on pace for MVP contention before this happened? Not a good take, respectfully.
Why would you trade a player who was, by your own admission, on an MVP pace? This is the most after-the-fact revisionist bullshit I’ve ever seen. Where did you come from, and what is your goal?
I don’t understand how it’s way off base. He could not have been worse in the Post season last year. He’s a great player. This just seems suspicious, that’s all.
So you continue to trot out rookie outfielders and McCormick who is hitting below .200 instead of an all star right fielder who was among the league leaders in home runs before he was injured. Yup makes a whole lot of sense.
My fucking point is, he should have been traded instead of Luperfido, someone still in arbitration who could be just as good. What don’t you fucking get about that?
In 2008, I remember coming across a comment on the Chronicle website suggesting the Astros sign Kenny Lofton (aged 41) to “pontoon” with Michael Bourn in CF (keen observers will remember that both hit lefthanded).
I want to find that commenter today and let him know he’s off the hook.
There are plenty of people in the world that know more about baseball than, many on this site included. You, dumbfuck, may I call you dumbfuck, are not one of them.
