Kansas City A's @ Astros, 8-24

In an interview before yesterday’s game Dusty said that August is a grind and, especially Altuve, the players are worn down.

He plans to use Diaz to spell Gurriel, Altuve, Correa, and Brantley when Bregman returns.

I would expect one of the four of them off almost every day for at least a couple of weeks.

Diaz gets to play the Marwin role. But he may be better. ( recency bias?)

Anyway, it sounds like he will still play almost everyday.

This was my hope, and I hope Dusty sticks to it.

Thanks, Jim. I once had a 15-year old daughter so I have a vast reservoir of patience.

Diaz this year may be better than Marwin in the Super Utility role. That is an astonishing thought.

I was thinking that exact same thought this morning.

When the season started, I thought depth was the biggest issue and potential Achilles heal.

But looking now ( assuming Tucker and Bregman healthy and back to their normal production) position players on this team 1-12 may be as deep as any of the recent ones in this run.

To me, starting pitching still is a big question mark.

The interview showed this past weekend was great. Explaining how he had to learn each position, etc. It made me think of learning a new language. You don’t always have time to translate in your mind what to say. That seems to be the way on the field. He doesn’t have to process as much now, he can react quicker now.

Word. As a couple of y’all on the board know I had 5 teenage daughters in the house at one time. The drama was real. I used to come home sometimes and know exactly how the evening would go in the first 15 seconds after walking through the door. Often, I would grab my one male cat and head to the basement, muttering, “it’s just you and me, buddy. You and me…”. As interesting as that period was, I would not change a thing. A lifetime highlight.

Agreed. Jim.

This team doesn’t have the same level of starting pitching, especially the consistency.

The 2017-2019 teams had SP that almost always went 5+ innings ( frequently more) giving the team a chance.

This rotation is a roll of the dice

I would shoot myself. Often, I never made it home before the tumult would begin. First my daughter would call to tell me how awful her mother was; then my wife would call to tell me how awful her daughter was. I gave serious consideration many times to just keep driving until I ran out of gas. Mark was never even one second’s trouble, but my daughter’s adolescence made up for it.

I only had one teenage daughter. Das had five AT THE SAME TIME! Holy shit. He is posting from a mental health facility for sure.

Not only 5 at the same time but 5 from different racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Again, the drama was real. But, you know, intentional grace, civility, peace and love won the day. 4 of 5 (now really 6 of 7 as we picked up two more forever kids afterwards) are close and have each other’s backs as they make their way through their 20’s. And the last remaining has started to reconnect in the last 12 months too so there is hope there as well.

Beautiful, thankful you guys have loved so many so well. And now they are loving you back.

1-11 last night right?

and it’s reasons like this that I don’t get mad when you mistakenly type Lesley.

das is a real good egg.

I can honestly say there are a lot of good eggs that post here.

Kris’s mom is 88 and lives with us. That means that when Kris and her mom interact, I revert to living with a teenage daughter.
