When the season started, I thought depth was the biggest issue and potential Achilles heal.
But looking now ( assuming Tucker and Bregman healthy and back to their normal production) position players on this team 1-12 may be as deep as any of the recent ones in this run.
The interview showed this past weekend was great. Explaining how he had to learn each position, etc. It made me think of learning a new language. You don’t always have time to translate in your mind what to say. That seems to be the way on the field. He doesn’t have to process as much now, he can react quicker now.
Word. As a couple of y’all on the board know I had 5 teenage daughters in the house at one time. The drama was real. I used to come home sometimes and know exactly how the evening would go in the first 15 seconds after walking through the door. Often, I would grab my one male cat and head to the basement, muttering, “it’s just you and me, buddy. You and me…”. As interesting as that period was, I would not change a thing. A lifetime highlight.
I would shoot myself. Often, I never made it home before the tumult would begin. First my daughter would call to tell me how awful her mother was; then my wife would call to tell me how awful her daughter was. I gave serious consideration many times to just keep driving until I ran out of gas. Mark was never even one second’s trouble, but my daughter’s adolescence made up for it.
I only had one teenage daughter. Das had five AT THE SAME TIME! Holy shit. He is posting from a mental health facility for sure.
Not only 5 at the same time but 5 from different racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Again, the drama was real. But, you know, intentional grace, civility, peace and love won the day. 4 of 5 (now really 6 of 7 as we picked up two more forever kids afterwards) are close and have each other’s backs as they make their way through their 20’s. And the last remaining has started to reconnect in the last 12 months too so there is hope there as well.
