My fondest dream is DeSantis winning the nomination.
Trump decides that they are not the real republican party and runs as an additional " MAGA Republican" candidate
They split the vote and neither come even close to being elected

I donât think DeSantis can be successful in the general. Trump was already a well known celebrity so gathered a lot of votes that way, in addition to the aid from his friend Vladdy. DeSantis though is a full on fascist and I think he would drive people toward Biden or whoever the D nominee is. But I donât think MAGAts would vote for him even if Trump isnât running as a third party, because Trump will tell them not to.

DeSantis face-planted in the FL Gubernatorial debate. He is not ready for primetime and likely never will be. It will be hilarious watching Trump quash him, Abbot, Haley and (especially) Pompeo.
Unfortunately, that will leave us with the prospect of a year of political violence the likes of which we have never seen. It will get out of control and we will be lucky to live through it.

Any candidate will work as long as another republican is running along side Trump to pull away votes.
