I also read that the Florida leg is working to undo DeSantis’ mess regarding Disney. DeSantis is fighting it of course, because owning the Libs is more important than avoiding lawsuits or harming a local business.

Seems about right for this joke of a president. We give up a terrorist for Brittney Griner, who broke the law, yet we leave behind a US marine who has been wrongly held in a Russian prison for years. What a joke and disaster.

She was going to get scorched in a primary. Now, if Dems run a candidate against her they risk splitting the vote and handing the seat to Kari Lake or Blake Masters.
It does seem like a dilemma for Dems, but also for Sinema. Say the Dems don’t run a candidate, can she get enough of the the Democratic left vote to actually get a majority in a general election?

I agree, and I think she loses the next election whatever combination of candidates run. The smart money thinks she will pad her resume for the next two years to earn a fat lobbying paycheck when she leaves the Senate.
Hopefully, she will simply not run again. But she loves drama…

She’s trying for the “Blue Angus” al la Angus King. She has sought to increase her national profile by sticking it to her fellow Democrats personally and on policy. She has made enough enemies in the party that she is certain to face, and almost certain to lose a Democratic primary. As an “Independent” she hopes to stave off any serious Democratic contender who would fear a split vote in the general election.
It’s possible, if improbable, that she can pull it off. If not, it will serve to further increase her national profile, make her a martyr to “Independents”, and guarantee a steady TV gig.
It’s a cynical move by Sinema, but not a stupid one.
The more I think about it, she ain’t pulling it off. Limey’s suggestion that she get out now and become a lobbyist is a better choice than to lose an election and become a lobbyist.
I figured she would become the token librul on fox news for a few years.
Fuck Kyrsten Sinema. She’s feckless and such an embarassment. And that’s why I wouldn’t wager too highly on her winning a general election. Republicans despise her because she was a (flimsy) Democrat, while a majority of Dems disapprove of her (something like ~ 60%) and her support amongst independents is tepid.
She’s trying to find a way to salvage her political career. But she also made sure this is all about HER.
