Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread

This is excellent.

I don’t share the negative assumptions even about the 1/4. But say you’re right: ā€œsomething closeā€ to the current congress could make all the difference. ā€œSomething closeā€ to the current congress could be enormously productive.

These stories were an expected result of the overturn of Roe. I wasn’t expecting to see them come out like from a fire hose.

The chilling effect that laws like those in Texas is intentional to make OBGYNs scared to perform abortion procedures. They didn’t care that it would impact mothers who lost their baby. Do they care that this mother, for one, no longer wants to get pregnant because she wants to stay alive for her one existing child?

The US is worst, by a margin, amongst developed nations for pregnancy deaths. And that was before we turned it up to 11.

So the people who deleted the messages now say they can’t find them? This is my shocked face.

The IG needs to send in forensic IT experts to make sure this stuff isn’t still on a server somewhere, and/or see how much effort went in to deleting them. They don’t become ā€œgone, gone, goneā€ because of a change out of equipment or software; that only happens when someone takes the time to find every server they passed through, and erase them.

Also, I cannot hear the word ā€œforensicsā€ without spelling it out:

They sat the required 22 jurors for Bannon’s trial yesterday. Today, Bannon’s lawyer again asked for a postponement. The judge once again told him ā€œnoā€.

The testimony part of the trial is expected to go very quickly. Not surprising since it’s basically:

Q: ā€œWas Mr. Bannon subpoenaed?ā€
A: ā€œYes.ā€

Q: ā€œDid he comply?ā€
A: ā€œNo.ā€

ā€œThe prosecution rests.ā€

The judge has already excluded all of the Bannon’s lawyer’s efforts to ā€œflood the zoneā€ in pre-trial motions, which lead the exacerbated lawyer to lament that he is expected to go to trial without a defense. Well his client is guilty, so there really isn’t a defense to be had.

Assuming the judge stays the course about not allowing BS to clog up the works, a (guilty) verdict is expected before the end of the week.

It’ll be tough to do forensics if the physical devices involved went through a woodchipper on their way to the bottom of a landfill…

They can still look at the servers though, right? They can see how those messages were routed and - if they were deleted from the servers - how, when and by whom.

I’m assuming the servers went through the wood chippers first thing.

Right. So now you know to look for the guy who did that, and drag his ass in for an interview.

Two words: Executive privilege. Or if those don’t work, try these two: National security.

Those messages went bye-bye.

Neither of those excuses are valid here.

Entirely possible. If so, those who did the erasing have some ā€˜splainin’ to do at least, and charges to face at worst.

I.e. get ready to plea bargain to keep your seditious ass out of jail.

If they can just draw this out a bit the Supreme Court will declare this kind of shit perfectly legal in a few months.

SCOTUS is most definitely the wild card in all of this.

Just something to think about next time you remember that 376 heavily armed cops took 77 minutes to take down one teenager with an AR-15.

The uniform you wear doesn’t make you a hero.

They just told Congress to choke on their dicks. There won’t be any half measures here.

17 Congressional Democrats arrested for protesting. I’m sure the GOP will seek the death penalty for their objections.

And they’d deserve it if they failed to incite the crowd to storm the court building. If the crowd had stormed the building everything would have been all right.

It’s quite possible that he asked and the families all said ā€œfuck noā€, but this is the sort of thing that can be used to bash him over the head from now until November.

Oh, and if the families said no, that’s not an excuse for him. It’s because of what he’s done - and not done - that he wasn’t welcome.
