We havenât quite gotten to the point where he could say that out loud on stage last weekend. Yet.
I was reading a poitical blog a couple days ago calling for using âcourt strippingâ which would render the Supreme Court (or any other court for that matter) powerless. Rublicans tried to use it when they tried to pass the save marriage act few years ago. The law didinât pass so it could be used. You just write in the law sayng the when passed no courts has the jurisdiction to change it.
Iâm no lawyer, constitutional or otherwise, but that sounds like it runs headlong into the rotating knives of the separation of powers doctrine. Of course, so does Texasâ SB8, and the Supreme Court seem fine with that.
No, but the DOJ just whacked a bunch of state officials with subpoenas over the fake electors gambit.
If you havenât been watching the hearings, you really should. They are gripping. Each one seems more dramatic and important than the last. Todayâs look at Trumpâs efforts to take over the DOJ have the makings of being the next level up. I am looking forward to hearing more about Jeff Clark being told to go home and get his shine box.

While this is true, that same separation of powers doctrine says that the SCOTUS does not have enforcement power. That belongs to the executive(s). They could chose to simply ignore any court ruling with basically zero consequences other than the threat of being voted out office.
There would be contempt powers for failure of enforcement.
So what would be the ultimate authority? If the President refused to execute a SCOTUS ruling, and Congress refused to act on the Presidentâs contempt, what enforcement power does the Court have?
Stay for the post-credit scene, folks. Cheney is going to name the names of those lawmakers who wanted a pardon.

I guess the Marshallâs service goes to enforce the contempt order and the secret service fights âem off. I donât know, but the courts have some enforcement powers.

Perjury Taylor Greene just got placed right in the thick of it. Perry is fucked. Clark is so far beyond fucked that, if he turned around, he couldnât even see fucked from where he is.

Gaetz wanted to be pardoned for everything, for all time.
Iâm not sure why the MAGAts think they can somehow be put on a list that exempts them from laws in perpetuity, but thatâs exactly what they think.
