Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread

The Tribune has built its own timeline based on available CCTV and body cam footage, as well as police radio traffic.

Arredondo was on the scene, in the hallway, within minutes. Despite having the numbers and equipment in place - including a Harrigan breaching tool - they failed to take any further action until the CBP tactical team showed up. What is clear to me is that they were petrified (literally) to go up against a teenager with an assault rifle.

The police failings here - most notably Arredondo who twice tried to talk to the shooter after hearing further gunshots in the rooms - are terrible and tragic, but do not themselves merit the kind of cover up the state is trying to pull off here. This is all about the gun lobby leaning on the state to protect the right to sell AR-15-style rifles over the dead and dying bodies of children.

When discussing this with a gun “aficionado” this weekend and how ludicrous it is to expect a more-effective response by armed teachers than from this highly trained, highly equipped tactical police force, his response was simply, “those cops were not defending themselves and teachers would be so they would be better motivated”. This is the level of deliberate ignorance we’re dealing with here.

Just means teachers will be the first to be shot, if they aren’t already.

So, the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun to his head?

So after weeks of lies and obfuscation, they finally come out with the truth of the matter: they’re going to lay it all on Arredondo.

I fully expect Abbott to blame the teachers and remind us “eh, it could have been worse”.

My predictions:

  1. I doubt there’ll be much that isn’t edited.

  2. Even if Trump looks into the camera and says “yeah, I lost, but I’m gonna try to cheat my way back into office, starting with sending these goons to the Capitol to execute Mike Pence”, neither Congress nor the DOJ will act on it.

  3. Donations to Trump’s re-election campaign will pour in.

The Texas GOP Platform approved crazy this weekend.

The Texas Republican Party is one of the largest and most influential state parties in the nation. But it is also among the most radical. Successful candidates nominated by the Texas GOP have implemented a near-total abortion ban, ordered investigations of the parents of trans youth, and filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Over the weekend thousands of Texas Republicans descended on Houston, where the Texas GOP held its annual convention. During the gathering, the party produced its platform. The new platform makes clear that the Texas Republican Party intends to pursue an even more extreme agenda. Among the platform’s declarations:

  1. “Homosexuality is an abnormal lifestyle choice.”

  2. “We reject the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election, and we hold that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States.”

  3. “We urge that the Voting Rights Act of 1965, codified and updated in 1973, be repealed and not reauthorized.”

  4. “[T]he federal government has impaired our right of local self-government… Texas retains the right to secede from the United States, and the Texas Legislature should be called upon to pass a referendum consistent thereto.”

  5. “Texas students should learn… life begins at fertilization.”

  6. “[A]ll gun control is a violation of the Second Amendment and our God given rights.”

The platform also condemns Senator Cornyn and other Senate Republicans working with Democrats on a package of modest gun safety measures. Less than a month ago, 21 people, including 19 children, were murdered during a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

You know if they win in November I think it’ll be time to leave the state, let them have it. I know it’s defeatist and doesn’t help at all with turning the state blue but I don’t know. We have dual US/EU citizenship so that’s one option; or maybe stay in the US, perhaps New Mexico? Feeling very powerless and defeated at the moment.

New Mexico? Where they’re already refusing to certify their own elections and setting up plan to initiate a Constitutional crisis?

I’m pretty sure we’re already past that point.

That doesn’t even mention the thinly-veiled overtures about secession.

Testimony of fake electors is very compelling. They were lied to about why they were signing the fake certificates. They said that Sen. Ron Johnson was on board with delivering the fake certificates to Pence on Jan 6.

AZ Speaker Rusty Bowers was on the verge of tears during points in his testimony. He asked for evidence of fraud multiple times, and was told by Giuliani multiple times that they had it, until he finally admitted they had theories but no evidence. Ultimately, Eastman told him to “just do it” (he didn’t). When he didn’t, the goon squad threatened his family and neighbors.

Also, text conversations about overthrowing the election start with the phrase “Sup?”

To paraphrase Jonathan Swift: you can’t reason someone out of a position they weren’t reasoned into.

No amount of evidence will ever lead to anything other than the GOP digging their heels in deeper.

I thought that was #4.

Yep, completely breezed past it. I saw a different wording of it somewhere else.

No doubt, but unless the state of Texas plans on paying me what I paid into Social Security, they need to shut up. Bunch of dumdasses.

Trump’s mouthbreathers broke into the home of the widow of Raffensperger’s dead son. WTF!?

Listening again to Trump’s call with Raffensperger, you can hear the desperation in Trump’s voice.

Ronna McDaniel had the RNC working on the fake electors plot.

A pundit on MSNBC just referred to her as Ronna McDonald, and I completely understand.
