Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread

Giuliani has released as statement refuting the testimony at today’s hearing; he says he wasn’t drunk.

That’s all. I’m not kidding.

Speaking of statements…

I’m sure he’s up in arms over this…

Guess he’s not armed and dangerous anymore.

One thing that the hearings are doing is fomenting MAGA on MAGA violence. Roger Stone went after Jason Miller, Bill Barr has been desperately trying to get people to believe his comments were taken out of context, they’re pissed that Kimberly Gargoyle got paid $60k for 2 minutes of work (but still seem ok that Stormy Daniels got paid more than double for less than half the time) and they’re pissed at Hannity for lobbying for a pardon for Hunter Biden.

GOP will eat itself.

Has there even been a coherent explanation for why it would be politically expedient for Trump to “pardon” Hunter Biden shortly before leaving office?

ETA: Coherent is obviously unnecessary. Any sort of explanation will do.

The only thing I can come up with is that it paints Hunter as guilty without actually having to go through the bother of a trial.

Doesn’t one have to accept a pardon?

Doesn’t one have to have committed a crime in order to be pardoned?

Yep. But if it’s issued, then the press turns to Hunter to ask him about it and suddenly he is the center of attention. For a hot minute, probably.

Maybe it was to have this pardon act as cover for pardoning all the MAGA-breathers.

Maybe Giuliani came up with it after his fifth scotch.

All I know is that it was a seriously stupid and fucked up idea that seems to have no purpose known outside of the dark, spider-infested corners of MAGA World.

Meanwhile:

I think Hunter’s paintings could use a pardon.

The idea of a pardon obviously was to imply guilt of something. They knew it was a big nothing burger, but a pardon stirs up the rabble. Which was the goal.

And I think it’s still in the legal grey area, at best, whether or not pre-emptive pardons are valid.

We’re going to find out when Trump drops the pocket pardon he gave himself.

Christians breaking with Roger Stone? Oh the humanity!

GOP will eat itself.

They’ll scream at one another like banshees, and when election time comes, they’ll walk into the voting booth and pull the R lever.

I feel sorry for the district court clerk who has to bang out the first draft of the preemptive blanket pocket pardon opinion.

The hardcore will, but what this does as much as anything else is gum up their fundraising machine. They are typically all in gooselockstep, so they rile up the base over the screaming issue du jour, then all fire off fundraising letters and emails to extract more retirement money from the rubes. When they are squabbling like this, the message discipline evaporates and the fund spigot is turned down.

Por ejemplo: did you know that the biggest caravan in history™️ is making its way up to our wide open southern border? They’re carrying COVID, Ebola, ISIS, drag queens and - worst of all - books! Some in MAGA World are trying to get traction with this, but no one gives a shit because we need entertainment now that the Depp/Heard trial is over dammit!

“bang out a pocket pardon…” Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

Is that the front or back pocket?
