We should be judged by how we treat the yeast among us.

Weather update in the hill country: it’s cold and shitty

What’re the lows you guys are hitting there?

What is Budweiser?

Not that bad…woke up to 29 and it’s constantly dropping, will bottom out around 15 sometime overnight. If the wind wasn’t blowing 15mph it’d be almost nice outside. Thankfully here it’s sleet/snow coming down so there’s not much ice at all on the trees as far as I can tell (knock on wood).

I got up early and walked the dogs, because they otherwise will not go out to pee in the rain. All of us must suffer. It was wet, but not that cold, maybe 40. The dogs hated it.

The question “what is Budweiser?” reminded me that I had to take out the dogs to pee.

28 here now. Has not been 40 since yesterday. My dog has to be forced outside.

Here’s a handy website. So far, so not catastrophic.

Checked the gauge and I’ve had an inch and a half of rain since yesterday evening. 30 degrees but no ice on the ground. Still raining.

The county courthouse in Marshall Tx is without power but that link has Harrison County at 0% so I wonder how accurate it is.

I think we need a new metric to measure how cold it is in Texas. I suggest we use a range based on Ted Cruz’ SWA boarding pass number: A1 being the coldest, and rising from there.

I imagine it rounds up and down, so anything less than 5% is going to be shown as 0%.

I hadn’t heard that they’d brought electricity to Marshall.

Sadly, the water wheel froze.

I got to sit on the bench outside the JP’s office in Marshall on a Sunday afternoon in August ‘74 and wait for the JP to finish his lunch so that he could administer a citation for 5 mph over the limit. I still don’t know why the officer couldn’t do it. I think they saw the Illinois plates on our car and decided to fuck with us.

Yankee.

Redundant.

The sheriff of Pecos County once threatened me with “rotting in his jail”. We were going considerably more than 5 mph over the limit.
