In Praise of iMac

I use it at least once a quarter. I’m not sure where it is now. if you ever use music for the guitar, or tabs, or just chord sheets, I strongly recommend forScore.

I just realized this iPad does not have a headphone jack. Fuckshit.

you can probably find a blue tooth accessory with a headphone jack.

If it’s a “Pro” pencil, it’s findable using the “Find My” feature.

It tells me the pencil is somewhere in my house. No shit. That’s not helpful.

I have wireless headphones I use most of the time. It’s the other times not having a headphone jack sucks donkey balls.

when you find it, keep it with your fountain pens.

You can use you iPad like a detector and it will take you right to it.

Good idea.

I have no clue how to do that.

Also, the kid at the Apple Store told me I was eligible for a phone upgrade. I asked if they had an iPhone 16 mini. Otherwise, not interested. He looked confused.

Use the Find My app - it should be listed on the Devices screen.

So I tried that and it said “device within arms reach”. No shit, it fell right here in my lap. That doesn’t mean I can find it. I have very low expectations for this pencil’s longevity.

The pencil sits on the iPad with a magnet, right?

If you don’t trust that, you can get a case that has a loop to hold the pencil. I have a keyboard case for my iPad that has such a loop, and I don’t even have a pencil.

Yes, it’s magnetic. But I’m the proverbial bull in a china shop when it comes to my iPad. I ordered a case that has a pouch for the pencil. It arrives today. Hopefully the pencil will last a few more hours.

Tell you what, get yerself a big bright pom-pom pencil topper, that way you can’t miss it.

And another thing…

This new iPad has the wake/home button on the upper left. This is different and I have to use my left hand. While I occasionally like using my left hand for things, just to mix it up, it’s also going to take some getting used to. Progress is hard.

I had a history professor who used his mouse with his left hand “to keep his mind limber.” I’d have taken it more seriously from a neuroscience professor, but whatever, the guy seemed sharp enough. Maybe it was working after all.
