Regarding the AI features coming with the iPhone 16s…they’re not coming with the iPhone 16s. Not straight away, at least.

The new phones will come installed with iOS 18.0, which is all the new software features except “Apple Intelligence”. Those are in iOS 18.1, which is still in beta and not yet scheduled for release, but promised “this Fall”.

But 18.1 isn’t all the AI features, it’s only some of them. The entirety of what Apple is currently touting will be available only in later iterations of iOS 18, which have no firm or even floppy release date(s) projected.

What does this mean? If you want a new iPhone because it’s a new iPhone, knock yourself out. If you want a new iPhone because of all the fun AI shit it can do, you might want to cool your jets a little.
