For the first time in a long time I’m stoked for an Apple event. If the rumors of the Mac Studio are true, it’s the Mac I’ve been waiting my whole life for. Something that sits in the yawning chasm between the iMac and the Mac Pro.
My new job is going to be using a MacPro. I guess I’ll learn how to use it. I hope it is as wonderful as you are usually touting apple products.
What new job?
Assistant to the Dean of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
There’s a very shallow learning curve. Once you’re comfortable with it, you’ll thoroughly enjoy how not annoying it is compared to WinPC.
Will you use Mac productivity apps, or MS Office?
Haha! First announcement is exclusive broadcast of 2 MLB games every Friday night. Umm…nope.
Congrats on the new job.
If you have anything from simple to complex questions, check out !acMost on YouTube, because Gary almost certainly has done a video on it.
I believe G Suite is used. As long as I never get another not responding when sending an email, I’m be even more thrilled that I already am.
Congratulations!
Congrats on the new gig.
Google apps? I have little experience with them.
A MacPro seems to be waaaaay overpowered to do that, but at least it’ll be mindbogglingly quick at it.
I don’t start until the 21st (seems like a really long time away) but I can’t imagine I won’t pick it up fast. I also know I’d find a way to ask you for any tricks I might like to know.
So, I may be an “in” if anyone wants to go to the new Opera House at Rice.
Seriously though, I super excited. The Dean just started in October and we seem to get along great already. It will be a great change from what I am currently doing.
Neil and I will have to teach you the secret handshake.
Wow! I did not know you were no longer at UH.
Congrats!
I’m still here for 8 more days.
Congratulations, that sounds like an awesome job.
Congratulations, Leslie! How long were you at UH?
19 years 7 months, almost 22 years, 9 months with the state.
I’m ready.
You’ll find Google Suite transformative. We even have our lawyers collaborating in real time on docs and popping on a quick 1-on-1 or 1-on-many video chat. The lawyers. Be prepared to get a little frustrated in the first week to 10 days on both the Mac and Google Suite. Then things will click and click well. Keep these stats in mind in that first 10 days.
Google Suite - 89%, Microsoft O365 - 79%, Microsoft Office - 62%
Google Meet - 91%, Zoom - 76%, Microsoft Teams - 69%
Apple Mac - 81%, Windows (Dell or HP) - 78%, ChromeBook - 49%
These are the customer satisfaction numbers for my 25,000 person agency. 80% is the gold standard in IT.
That’s awesome BG!
