Springer to Blue Jays?

Looks that way

Rumored 6 years $150 million, $25mm AAV.

Happy for George. Sad for me.

Yes, congrats to George. He’s earned his money and good luck to you, except when you play the Astros.

Ditto. I’m going to miss watching him play. And we’re really going to feel his absence at the top of the order.

Really glad George has finally signed. Perhaps this will get the outfield market to move. I’m getting impatient and worried about where we stand, needing at least one, if not two outfielders. I’m sure Click has a plan but I’m just ready to see it.

Wondering what we do about a lead off hitter? Altuve is the only player currently that fits the bill in my opinion, but I’m not sure I like him in that role. Of the free agent outfielders still available, none really project as lead off hitters in either the old school or new schools sense. Hate the Benintendi rumors have died out. I think if acquired he could have been a lefty bat who could have hit lead off. Have him reduce focus on the long ball and go back to what he was best at, spraying the ball around with line drives. Perhaps it’ll still come to fruition???

Well at least there’s that compensation pick at the end of the 4th round.

(yes that’s a fucking tongue in cheek comment)

Rosenthal says Jays are in on Brantley too. Don’t do this to us.

Brantley too? Time to drink

There has been a lot of talk that the Blue Jays are willing to deal Gurriel. With the signing is Springer, and possibly Brantley as well, they Jays may be even more willing to move Gurriel for some young pitching. He would be a fantastic bat to add and could possibly hit lead off. He’d hit .285 to .300 with 25 plus homers playing at MMP, and perhaps it would rejuvenate Yuli to play with his brother.

Brian McTaggart is evil.

Angels have signed Jose Quintana.

$25 million per year. He made $21 million last year. Of course, the Astros’ qualifying offer was only $18.9 million. I understand they’re hit with the luxury tax, but did Click or Crane ever publicly discuss trying to re-sign him? Crane at least paid lip service to making a run at Cole last offseason, although I don’t recall that they ever did anything.

I think it became pretty clear Springer did not want to come back. Altuve would be a terrible leadoff hitter. If Toronto signs Brantley also, I will go back deep into my 2019 Game Seven doldrums.

If he had to leave, I’m glad it wasn’t to be a Met, Red Sox, Yankee, or Ranger.

That guy delivered two championships.

I think the Blue Jays are in a good position to win the East. Biggio, Guerrero, Bichette, Hernandez and Gurriel all just got a little better because of George’s presence

Another crushing blow to Astros fans: Chris Devenski has signed with Arizona.
