So, I admittedly don’t know much about the Cuban League. How advanced is Leon and what is a realistic time table for him to make the majors?
What I’ve seen, 2022
Everything I’ve seen written says 2022.
ICYMI earlier, Yankees apparently have re-signed DJ LeMahieu to a 6 yr/$90MM deal.
And another top reliever could be off the table:
Mets looking pretty salty on paper.
Especially once the Springer signing is official.
There’s a shocker.
The previous regime seemed to do a good job of avoiding acrimony in these situations.
Hope that trend continues.
Meanwhile yes, the Mets and the Padres have pushed their chips in.
And followed that up with a 1 yr/$11MM deal with Corey Kluber.
Must have reaaaaaally liked his throwing session the other day.
LeMahieu at $15 million per for 6 years is a good deal for the Yanks. $11 million for Kluber seems like a safe gamble.
Here is a quote from a cbssports.net article:
“Pedro Leon projects to be an everyday center fielder and rapid mover to the big leagues,” Astros Senior Scouting Advisor Charlie Gonzalez said in a statement Friday. “Pedro has a compact build, tremendous strength and is an extreme quick-twitch athlete. He possesses five plus baseball tools on the 20-80 scouting scale, including an 80-grade arm with throws between 96 and 100 miles per hour.”
