Homeless A’s at Astros, 8/21/26

Altuve beats out a dribbler down the 1b line when the pitcher makes a lazy throw, and Yordan HBP. Paredes has a swinging bunt to move the runners, then Varsho and Walker are, of course, carved the fuck up.

I honestly don’t believe Varsho has ever gotten a major league hit.

Wisneski 6 up, 6 down

I think Varsho was hitting right around league average when he arrived, but that seems like such a long time ago.

Yainer starts the 2nd with a single but ends it with a SOTO DP

From Twitter:

Daulton Varsho has a .135 BA and a .436 OPS as an Astro. He is your cleanup hitter tonight. Welcome to 2026.

His numbers are lower than that now, I guess.

What in the fuck was that?

Wesneski works around a couple of baserunners in the third.

Altuve with a one out infield single. Yordan smashes one right at the 1b, Altuve somehow manages to get back. He then makes up for it by getting caught stealing.

Someone else can take PBP.

More like he got caught running toward 2nd base.

Hard to call that an attempt at anything.

Varsho Varsho

Well eyebee dipped.

Walker gets Paredes home with asac fly to center

1-0

Cam drilled that ball.

No love.

0 for 4 RISP so far for the Astros.

Yordan bypasses the RISP problem by driving in Allen from first.

Very nice to see Yordan doing Yordan things again!

I thought they’d send Allen off the bat and then thought he might get the stop sign once the CF got to the ball before Allen was at third. In any event, I was pretty sure it would be close at home, but it was not close.

Paredes is the first Astro tonight to hit with a RISP

Astros 1 for 7 with RISP now, yet they lead by 3.

Holy crap Varsho is a shitty batter. No wonder he can’t hit.

Well there’s your problem
