I do most of our cooking on Thanksgiving, and really enjoy it. Best of all, while I’m working the kitchen I catch up of a year’s worth of recorded Austin City Limits, and then that evening watch Die Hard with leftover turkey. Today I’m adding in some Fine Disregard Semillon. Happy Thanksgiving, it’s the best day of the year!

My favorite eating day of the year is still New Year’s Day, but today is pretty damn good. Got two birds on the smoker, Mrs Hawk has her famous pumpkin pie in the hotbox. I also have some of that Semillon chilling. Gonna be a good one.

Me too. Just finished eating here. We had turkey, ham, garlic mashed potatoes, whipped yams with maple drizzle, green bean casserole, homemade biscuits, jellied cranberry, and stuffing from inside the bird. With homemade gravy from the drippings, of course. Winner, winner, turkey dinner!

Just finished a lovely thanksgiving with family, now about to meet up with old friends during the two-hour window that we’re all free while they’re in town. Then bright and early tomorrow, we’re heading up to wife’s folks’ place for turkeyday round two.

We met a girl once who’d moved from California to Vermont to work for Orvis. She said she’d had to learn to brush her teeth with maple syrup.
