Watching the full highlights this morning.
Brown was just grooving pitches in the 6th. Both the triple and homer were in the center square. And Espada left him out there for two more hitters. WHY?
That was such a wasted opportunity.
He mowed them down w/ 4 perfect innings including 5 Ks on only 54 pitches in the 2nd-5th.
Truth is he was very unlucky in the 1st too. Kwan’s 1b was a groundball with expected BA against of .220. Naylor’s HR had expected BA against if .090 and is a fly out in every other park.
The bullpen is completely rested. It would have been great to pull him after 5 innings and tell him good job. Realistically though, he was dealing so I understand giving him the 6th.
But have a guy warm and pull him after 1 baserunner.
Anything else is managerial malpractice
Absolutely let him start the inning, but you have to be prepared to get him out of there.
100 percent a wasted chance to let Hunter leave after 4 great innings and a hit or two.
Reactionary managing instead of thinking ahead.
