General TV Thread

Its worth any bump it gets.

Fantastic.

My wife was watching S5 of The Crown, and damned if I didn’t get sucked in.

But that’s probably because I was pretending that Imilda Swanson was still playing her HP character instead of the queen.

I’m two episodes in on, The English. It’s interesting, so far so good. I was kind of already pre-sold on it for being a Western and for having Emily Blunt.

Severance is great. The cast is amazing and I’m very interested to see where they take the story. I’ve been searching around and it seems they haven’t left anything off the table. Apparently they even did some story tweaking midway through the first season.

I never “got” Emily Blunt until Edge of Tomorrow - damn, girl.

My wife enjoys that show but I can’t watch it. Like Downton Abbey, it really wakes up my inner Marxist.

My wife’s brother has IDD and lived with us for 5 or 6 years and watched the Western Channel all day every day so westerns are an automatic no for me. Although Gunsmoke was a seriously great show.

We binged this a few weekends back after coming home from a debauched few days in Seattle for my bday. Same experience in that it took me a few episodes to get really invested, but once I did I loved the series and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I’m also fascinated by the tribes of the Southwest and Great Plains. Unlike my friends back on the East Coast, it was the history I literally grew up with (there’s a park in Tucson named Ft. Lowell where you can still walk around the adobe ruins of the old calvary fort). So, I wasn’t too upset there were trees in The English.

And I echo the sentiments about Ms. Blunt.

White Lotus S2 has been good.

Not tv, but we watched Amsterdam last night and, man, what a letdown. So much potential wasted.

I’m wondering if Babylon will be the same.

Great show!

Slow Horses S2 is still excellent.

Also, I saw a trailer for Echo 3 that looks really good.

Echo 3 update: it’s excellent. Like a cross between Proof of Life and Clear & Present Danger. It repeatedly switches directions on you in smart and unexpected ways.

It’s from the same stable as The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. As is typical with Apple TV+ shows, the production and acting are top notch.

6 episodes available now with new ones every Friday. I don’t know how many there will be in total, but I don’t care. I’ll be watching them all.

This originally aired on CBS so this thread will have to do.

Eisenhower interviewed by Cronkite, in England and Normandy, on the 20th anniversary of D-Day.

Genius stuff.

I still quote the Major in my head at least once a day.

Wow!

Based on the “Quantumania” trailers, I’m afraid Paul’s schedule freed up to do this.

Bummer Alert.

Wild Spoilery Speculation

Disney has been working on transitioning from the OG superheroes to a new generation for a while now. See: America, Captain; Man, Iron; and Eye, Hawk. Now that Cassie is all growed up, I can see her becoming the next Ant-Person. Further, Hank and Janet have to be on the bubble too.

I don’t think it’s very speculative to think Young Avengers is the plan.

Cunk on Earth is hilarious. It’s a mockumentary on Netflix. Spinal Tap meets archeology.
