Game 3 ALCS: Astros . Them

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Alvarez lineout into the shift.

Carlos lines out to right.

12-3 Final.

Boston leads 2-1.

Their starter had more IP today than the Astros starters have had in 3 games.

That nasty straight as fuck 92 MPH fastball got the job done.

What a shit show these last 2 games have been. Absolutely embarrassing showing by the Astros

Astros need to dig deep tomorrow.

6 feet deep if they lose

Zach Greinke will start game 4. I hope he has a legendary performance. We need him

Idk what we can expect from Greinke length wise but if he can go 3 and Javier can go 2 or 3. We have a chance to win tomorrow then who knows what will happen. Maybe we get good Valdez in game 5.

The last 2 games have been absolutely worst case scenarios.

However itā€™s only 1-2.

A win tomorrow and itā€™s a best of 3 with 2 games at home.

Grienke needs to dig deep and pitch like a $10 mil per year pitcher ( $30 million would be better). Between he and Javier they MUST cover 5 innings, 6 would be better.

An early lead would be welcome.

Hopefully Meyers and Castro start.

Itā€™s only 1 game. A win and this is a completely different series.

Siri played well, and we need Macheteā€™s defense. The folks letting this team down are the pitchers and the top of the lineup.

I agree with the rest.

Agree with this, with one caveat.

The only way Castro starts is if Greinke prefers him as a receiver.

DH/LF is an interesting scenario given MBā€™s bum wheels.

This is really the only thing he should have said, but God for him for doing so. He also complemented Rodriguez for the game he pitched.

Iā€™d say Yordan in LF if Uncle Mike continues to play, which I think he should. CF does not matter to me, but Meyers has to be 100% before he plays. Chas and Siri will do fine there also. If we do not get good pitching, we are dead anyway so agonizing over the lineup is not an exercise I will do.

ETA: I agree completely about Castro. We are not losing because of Maldyā€™s not hitting.

You know what is fun, Carlos? Winning. Not oversized watches, chest thumping, or ā€œlook at meā€ celebrations. Winning.

Good for Cora.

The Athletic has an article this morning with Strom suggesting that Urquidy might have been tipping his pitches. I do recall after the grand slam, Schwarber was shown in the dugout demonstrating a baseball grip to others.

That often seems like an excuse from the side that got shelled.

Maybe to protect the psyche of the pitcher.

BoSox claimed the same thing in 2018 with Kimbrel.

I actually thought about using a position player as a pitcher last night. Many of our guys must be gassed.

I completely agree that Siri and Maldy were not the reason the team lost last night.

If they were to start again today itā€™s fine with me ( like my opinion matters)

However Castro is hitting as well as anyone now and Maldy had an error on his one throw last night. Castro can do that !

I just like Meyersā€™ makeup. I feel like he has the clutch gene and meshes with the lineup better.

I love Siriā€™s energy but think Meyers in the lineup and Siri as pinch runner, defender, and cheerleader is a better recipe for success.

That is, of course, if Jake is healthy.

Regardless, all this angst goes away if Grienke and Javier can turn it over in the 6th or preferably 7th inning with a lead.

I like Meyers, Chas and Siri (not a bad showing by him last night). I donā€™t much care which one gets the call.
