Tempest in a teapot. Outraged people should vote with their pocketbooks. I hear Truth Social is accepting new accounts.
Tongue in cheek, of course. I am in the tech business and if I try really, really hard, I still can’t seem to care. I suspect most of my 4K twitter followers don’t really care that much either and understand that this will all work itself out in due course and sooner rather than later.
The tech business will only suffer so much stupidness. It has a tendency to refactor things that are stupid for too long into newer, better things very quickly.
Space Karen is finding out. In real time. On his own platform.
He put up a poll as to when suspended reporters’ accounts should be reinstated, offering 4 options. “Now” won, so he had a do-over with only two options. “Now” is winning that one too.
People ask me why I don’t Twitter. Mainly because it’s because the world at large doesn’t want to know what I’m thinking, I reserve my thoughts for you selective few here. But secondly, and by no means incidentally, it’s a fucking train wreck. I’m sure I miss out on lots of information, and you guys manage it far better than I could, but I just do not want to go there. And neither does the world want me to.
I’m only there for the memes. Yes, I do see breaking news stuff there too, but days like yesterday - where we get to witness the combined wit of the internet dunking on a richly deserving grifter - makes it worthwhile.
Also, as an old, straight, white man, the crazy leave me alone.
Twitter was a great place to receive information curated to your interests: news, politics, arts, sports, a million other things. It took a while for me to figure it out, maybe because I had a similar thought - no one needs to hear what I have to say. But once I realized its use and learned how to use it, I was pretty hooked.
But, as has been noted, the platform is undergoing some changes.
I tried, because I thought I could get something similar out of it. I tried following some Astros stuff, but it was an incomprehensible stream of consciousness blowing out a thousand tweets per minute. I couldn’t keep up nor make heads or tails of it, and it made my head hurt. I know I just didn’t bother to fine tune it, but it was enough to make me say, yeah, this isn’t for me.
This is the biggest value of twitter for me. You can see real conversations between whole communities of people with deep knowledge about any topic under the sun, including the most important and most trivial things that may interest you.
Tesla is offering incentives to take delivery of a Model 3 in December; you get $3,750 off and 10,000 free supercharger miles. This suggests that they have inventory that they want to shift.
How much of this is due to people waiting for the new EV incentive that kicks in next month, and how much is due to Musk showing his tea towel holder to his customer base on Twitter we will have to wait to see.
If sales are still down in January, Tesla has a problem. There have already been calls to remove him as CEO from one of the board members who also owns over 30% of the stock. He says they need a CEO who is actually the CEO and not someone fucking around with other ventures. He has a point.
