He’s flushing out all the investors who don’t want to work for it.

Normally, when people use the phrase “living rent free…”, it’s metaphorical.

What would Musk tweet if, say, AOC wasn’t paying the rent on her district office?

One way to increase your profit is to simply not pay your expenses. That’s Trumponomics 101.

I think I’ve just come up with a genius way to make a Tesla more affordable.

He’s certainly made Tesla stock more affordable

Swinging things back to EV’s again (I’ll keep trying), my car arrived at the dealer yesterday and is getting prepped. I’ll pick it up this coming Monday. I’ll spend a few days commuting in and out of DC each day then I’ll drive 500 miles up to VT on Friday. So, I’ll get to experience multiple driving use cases, charging types/infrastructures and be able to report the current real-world experiences here. Should be fun. And interesting. And, maybe frustrating.

I am excited for you and look forward to hearing your adventures in EVing.

Speaking of EVs, we’re getting closer to an “affordable” family EV.

Make sure the heater in it works.

The heater’s the one thing you never have to worry about in a car, it just pulls heat straight off the engine.

You’d think so, but one very cold Christmas break I drove from Chicago to southern Missouri before we got the heater vanes unjammed and putting heat into the cabin. I don’t think I’ve ever been colder.

I would imagine that an EV heater would be much more effective.

Must’ve been a lot of resin

Ha. It has a heat pump, of all things. Can you imagine a heat pump trying scavenge available heat from a -10ºF Vermont morning and no internal combustion engine? That said, Audi did implement resistive heating elements in the vehicle to 1) provide instant heat for cold starts and 2) to allow pre-conditioning of the vehicle (battery and cabin) while the car is still connected to house power. If you tell the car the night before what time you are leaving (or set a regular schedule), you hop in and it’s at whatever temp you wanted and the battery is conditioned for whatever the ambient temps are.

I watched a video explaining how heat pumps can draw heat from even cold air, and I still don’t understand it.

From what I have seen, the heat pump/resistive coils combo is the way to go because the heat pump uses far less juice but you can still supplement that with the coils when needs must.

Bet he never even thought to try a cutoff piece of coathanger

Believe me, we tried several implements, including screwdrivers. There was apparently ice in there somewhere that was shielded in such a way that it took forever to melt enough that we could unjam it. As you can imagine, this was not a high-end vehicle.

That was a joke about resin that may have gone over a few heads.

Whooshed right over mine.

Some of this strikes me as being in the “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” category.
