You are the attorney but it seems to me contracts are give and take on both sides and Team Correa wanted to hold all of the cards. And for a guy that got pretty used to winning he is joining a club that finished dead last in their division… a game behind KC even.
A healthy and productive Bregman will make up for a lot. Let’s see what Pena has got. Bat him 9th and try to take some pressure off of him. Diaz isn’t a bad option to make some spot starts either. I wouldn’t be at all upset if Correa gets drilled in the back by a 100 mph Verlander fastball when he comes back to Minute Maid.
Why would he do that? I’m pretty sure the players have a different view of all of this than we fans do.

He probably won’t. I’m just saying I wouldn’t be upset if one got away from Verlander and that happened.

The 3 year with opt outs deal is the most schlong gorverling contacted imaginable for a player of Correa’s stature.
This looks like a pretty loud ‘fuck you’ to the Astros and probably several other teams. There’s nothing in this for Correa other than ‘it’s none of those guys who just pissed me off.’
-No giant pile of money/years
-No big media market
-No friends/former teammates
-No widely respected players/coaches he wants to work with
-No chance at a championship
