Farreras has really impressed me thus far. Don’t know if it’s lightning in a bottle or a sign of more sustained success, but he’s having a hell of a season, especially for a 20th round pick.
Jake Bloss had another good outing today. 5.2 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 run, 1 strikeout.
Some comments from Dana Brown in a couple of different radio interviews this week:
“Jake Bloss, in Double-A, is throwing very well. Maybe we’ll move him up to Triple-A at some point.”
“[Jake] Bloss throws a lot of strikes, almost too many strikes. We got to get him to expand the zone in certain counts. … It’s not out of the realm of giving a guy an opportunity at 23 if he’s having some good outings in the Minor Leagues.”
Translation: “we’re quickly running out of pitchers”
Jake Bloss has been having a great season as noted by Dana a week or so ago. He went 6.1 IP last night, combining with Cesar Gomez on a no-hitter for the Hooks.
@AstrosFuture is reporting that JC Correa was released to make room at CC for Brice Matthews.
Maybe we’ll learn that Minnesota picks him up.
