College Hoops 2021

Nice.

Those Tech fans were inverting the hook-em. They deserved what they got.

I guess people see what they want to see

That player followed Beard from Tech to UT, I’m going to go way out on a limb and say he was responding to someone in the stands who said something very similar.

This is the fourth consecutive win by Tech at “The Drum” in Austin. One of the reasons for Tech’s success may be the large contingent of Tech fans in attendance at each of those games. It has seemed more like a neutral court game that a home game for either team.

There are a number of reasons so many Tech fans travel to Austin every year for a basketball game such as it being relatively close to Lubbock and Tech fans want to beat Texas more than any other team. The biggest reason by far, however, is the easy availability of tickets. The Drum holds over 16,800 and Texas fans almost never get close to filling it. In fact, Longhorn fans don’t really support basketball even though they usually have a pretty good team.

The UT administration has a solution for the problem of so many unsold tickets: downsize massively. Rather than promote the team or attempt increased ticket sales, the Longhorns will leave the Drum for the absolutely adorable 10,000 seat Moody Center. The Moody Center promises to deliver the soft, quiet boutique basketball experience favored by the small, effete Longhorn fanbase. More importantly, there won’t be nearly so many tickets available for those meanies from Lubbock.

The amount of bullshit in this paragraph would fertilize all of Lubbock if anything could actually grow there.

Yeah but they have to go home to Lubbock.

That’s why rooting for Tech is a fool’s errand. The Red Raiders can never truly savor the thrill of total and complete victory, because in the end, their ultimate achievement would be celebrated in … Lubbock.

What’s not bullshit is that the meanies from Lubbock will not be able to buy up to 4 or 5 thousand tickets in the new building.

Michigan coach Juwan Howard can expect to be out of commission for a while:

What the hell? Did the Wisconsin coach boo the Michigan school song or something?

I’m sure Tech fans only booed during The Eyes of Texas because of its racist association with minstrel songs.

Isn’t that why it IS the school song for UT? It’s bad enough for the Orwellian creepiness of the lyrics, but the racist overtones should probably relegate it to the dustbin of history, along with the Jeff Davis statue.

Just get it all off of your chest.

Or out of your colon

Not for all of us. I, for example, can savor the fourth consecutive Red Raider victory in Austin from my home on the Pacific coast. I can walk down to the beach and stroll along happily humming the Tech fight song as the waves lap at my feet. You see----we’re EVERYWHERE!!!

Let me make myself more clear. The Tech coach and his team have my admiration. They play hard, play well, and play clean. They may have been helped yesterday by UT’s inexplicable inability to hit wide open shots, but Texas got it to down one point with plenty of time but could not complete the comeback. Congrats to the Tech basketball team and to Coach Adams. The game was intense and hard fought, and Tech deserved the win.

What I loathe and despise is the Tech hooligans who came to Austin with their number one goal as showing Texas how much they hate the school and now hate Chris Beard. If he had gone anywhere else, Tech fans would still lionize him. But no, he is a Longhorn so Tech fans surround his bus, curse him, make obscene gestures to him, and force the Lubbock police to give the UT team a police escort to get to the gym.

These classless losers came to Austin and booed UT’s school song in an attempt to drown it out, booed Beard unmercifully, and shouted profanities at UT players at the top of their lungs. They are low rent. They have no class. They are despicable scum. They are Little Brother in West Texas, and they are not worth this much of my time.

You may be one of them, Texifornia. You certainly check the gloating box. I hope you are not. No more from me on this subject. On to March Madness.

Here’s an explanation. Yes, a butt hurt coach sparked a melee:

Gluteus madimus strikes again.
