Tangentially related to College Football, Kirk Herbstreit’s sweet Golden Retriever Ben that’s been on Gameday with him for the last few years passed away due to complications from cancer today.

As a devout 3x Golden Retriever owner, this breaks my heart.
My last Golden, Maggie, was my soul dog and she succumbed to cancer like Ben (it’s sadly common in Goldens).
He seemed like such a good dog, like all dogs (well, maybe not ankle-biting yip-yip shits), and I’m glad Herbstreit took him along often. I loved seeing Ben with him.

Having lost my dog back in June, this has hit home a little more than I anticipated when I saw the report two days ago of Ben’s chemo treatments.

I couldn’t give a fuck less about Kirk as an announcer/football pundit anymore, but I will always care deeply for a good doggo. The fact he wanted nothing to do with Reveille but wagged his tail at Bevo is the icing on the cake.

UT was cruising down the field and was at the Florida 15 or so, and then I left the room for a couple of minutes. When I came back, the Florida offense was heading out onto the field and no points had been scored. WTF?
Wisner got stopped for a small loss, tried to reverse field and turned it into a 7-yard loss. Then Ewers was sacked for a 9-yard loss. Auburn missed from 51 yards.
Glad the Horns got the touchdown. I would have been very annoyed if they hadn’t after Ewers missed his easiest throw of the day to Bond which he would have scored on.

The downside of having a really talented but young RB, they always think they can break one when the team needs you to just take the small loss there.
