So, in rugby, when a player commits a blatant foul or infraction to stop a likely try from being scored, the referee will immediately the offending player a yellow card and send him to the sin bin for ten minutes. Not only has a penalty try been awarded but that team now has to play a man down for those ten minutes.
And a penalty try means there’s also no conversion. It’s the full seven points straight away.
No major decisions were made regarding the future format of the 12-team College Football Playoff on Sunday, but “tweaks” to the 2025 season haven’t been ruled out, CFP executive director Rich Clark said.
Sunday’s annual meeting of the FBS commissioners and the presidents and chancellors who control the playoff wasn’t expected to produce any immediate course of action, but it was the first time that people with the power to change the playoff met in person to begin a review of the historic expanded bracket.
Clark said the group talked about “a lot of really important issues,” but the meeting at the Signia by Hilton set the stage for bigger decisions that need to be made “very soon.”
Commissioners would have to unanimously agree upon any changes to the 12-team format to implement them for the 2025 season.
“I would say it’s possible, but I don’t know if it’s going to happen or not,” Clark said on the eve of the College Football Playoff National Championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame. “There’s probably some things that could happen in short order that might be tweaks to the 2025 season, but we haven’t determined that yet.”
Well, they’ll never unanimously agree to proper seedings, which was the biggest weakness this year. I also doubt the SEC and B1G will agree to changes that likely result in conferences automatically getting two bids, which I think is being floated by the ACC.
The only two changes I want are not having conference champs be required to be top 4, which has zero chance of changing. And the first two rounds being on campus, small chance because of the bowl deals.
No, when they renew the deal in 2 years, they will likely be forced to accept that change, but next year is under the existing agreement, which requires unanimity. That’s my understanding at least. My point is that they have the power for one more year to nix that idea.
I don’t care who wins and I probably wont watch much if any but I want Notre Dame to lose more than I want Ohio State to lose. Notre Dame always pisses me off, so I’m picking them to win the game.
That’s been one of their points of pride for a while. Someone used to do a list of the “most affordable” MLB concessions, but I haven’t looked at that recently.
