Anybody sick of The Good and the Bad and the Ugly rendition that the UT band has been offering for the last many games? It certainly thematically spells out tonightās affair.
Itās true that Ewers canāt simply will a RB into the end zone if the backās running east west against a defense like OSU.
Not Ewers hate just common sense, if thereās ever a time to use Arch itās first and goal from the fucking one or whatever it was. I mean, come on, man.
Ewers isnāt why Texas lost. Allowing a 75-yard screen pass touchdown with under 30 seconds left before halftime and calling HB toss from the one out of shotgun is. You can also add the Texasā offensive line not being able to create push in short-yardage situations, and Cameron Williams blocking air on 4th and goal.
Both things are true. Having Arch in the goal line package adds a QB run element that Ewers doesnāt provide, and Ewers wasnāt the primary reason they lost.
Iāve been fighting off a cold or something the last couple of days, however, Iām going to forego the pleasantries of vermouth and bitters and simply mainline bourbon for a bit.
Fucking hell, this feels like an Astros playoff loss.
The good news is Texas is going to be really good again next year, and looks like it should continue to be good going forward.
For all my bitching about some of Sarks shortcomings, heās the right guy. He has restored Texas to what it should be, a team that competes for titles. Hopefully heāll learn and grow from the mistakes.
This is a problem with footballās rules by the goal line. You are incentivizing defenses to repeatedly commit penalties with minimal punishment. If the ball is just going to continue to be placed at the one every time you hold or interfere with a receiver, why not do it?
