Throw was up the line a bit. Heck of a slide by the Tennessee guy.
Great slide but the catcher never tried to move his glove
He tried, but he made a fatal mistake. He let the runner get between him and the throw. When he reached back to his right, the runner had made his move. You have to force the runner to your glove side.

Only chance the catcher had was to spin around and blindly put his glove in front of the plate

Shouldnât he be gloving that on the baseline, rather than letting it get a foot past the line?

Pretty much. To be more accurate, you have field it on the fair side of the line. That forces the runner to your left where the throw is taking your glove already. You also donât risk the throw hitting the runner. The throw beat the runner, but catcher then had to reach back across his body on the tag.
