Tampering? Crazy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the timing, imo. Schlossnagle addressed the timing in his PC: “I had to make a decision. Sitting around for seven days would not be fair to A&M and would not be fair to Texas.” He said he made the decision yesterday, and his relationship with CDC was the main reason. He praised aTm for a full five minutes as he began his talk.
You are reaching here. Schlossnagle has an agent. He also worked with Chris Del Conte at TCU. I’m pretty sure that once Schlossnagle indicated he was interested in the Texas’ job, his agent and Del Conte worked behind the scenes to get this deal in place.
To you and Jim R., I edited my post to show the first was in response to AFIBD. For the record, I find the collective reaction hysterical.
As to my comment on the timing of this, I stand by what I said and will reiterate I don’t know how the deal came together. Maybe his agent was working behind the scenes after the Georgia series. It’s a plausible theory, although that predates the alleged incident b/t Pierce and one of his pitchers at the Big XII tournament by several weeks. From what I’ve read, that’s what convinced CDC decided he had to move on.
Regardless, I’m happy with the hire and hope Schlossnagle has a hell of a lot of success with the Longhorns.
ETA - if you believe Kirk Bohls, allegedly Perrin never reached out to Schlossnagle when he conducted his coaching search, but that was his dream job.
I’m just gonna stop you right there
Fuck Kirk Bohls. He left the Statesman recently, and the cheering you heard was me.
I also do not believe Rogers. He is an Aggie. I will believe Schlossnagle until CDC acknowledges a different version.
I knew you were referring to the nonsense you read on TexAgs.
This an excellent article from Burnt Orange Nation about the hiring.
Every Longhorn baseball fan should be excited about the hire. Schlossnagle won at TCU and A&M. As a UT alum, I’m absolutely thrilled to have him run the program.
Also, when I saw the news on the ESPN ticker last night, my reaction was “Wow,” and I laughed because the day after Schlossnagle nearly wins a national championship at A&M, he leaves to go to the program the Aggies hate more than anything in the world. Talk about a gut punch for the ages.
Thoughts and prayers for aggy.
FIFY because it’s much more enjoyable that way.
247 is saying Tulo is not staying.
ETA: the Kendall Rogers story is total bullshit.
A source has confirmed that Troy Tulowitzki will remain with the Texas baseball program as an assistant coach on Jim Schlossnagle’s staff.
Nice. The Ags whiffed on two (Vitello and one more) then Earley said yes.
Rogers saying he believes most of the plow pushers in the transfer portal will stay in aggieland now that Earley is getting Schlossnagle’s old job.
He also said UT had the Schloss deal done immediately after the regular season. He is an Ag writer in a thin disguise.
Normally, I’d disagree with you because I think he does some good work at D1 Baseball. In this case, though, I’m struggling to believe his objectivity.
Oh, please. I did not say he is bad at his job. I said he is aggy. "Out, out damned spots does not work on that stain.
Rogers aside, the rumor about a current HC joining the staff in aggieland appears to be true:

Kelly did a really job at Washington, fwiw.
Good for them. We will see what the portal guys do if Schloss wants any of them. They already showed their choice between the school and him.
