Wood must have started the 9th and didn’t get any outs.
Thanks. The highlights I watched said the guy who gave up HR#1 had not pitched in relief all year. I guess he also gave up #2.
Yeah, they were back-to-back leading off the inning.
From the interviews I’ve seen, the AF coach and a couple of their players were really effusive in their praise for Austin, the UT program, the stadium, their treatment by our fans, everything. Maybe a bunch of that rubbed off on Skenes. He is from SoCal though (“Southern California” for @MusicMan), so who knows where he wants to go.
I do believe UT will have openings for a weekend starter, C and DH next year.
Horns did already get a transfer from a 6’7", 200lb freshman LHP project from Rice, and I read that Pierce is going to lean on the portal heavily because of all the talent they’re losing.
Right now our weekend rotation looks like Gordon and two TBDs next year. Even if everything goes perfect with Witt’s rehab I don’t see how he could pitch next year, much less be in the rotation.
I was impressed with Southard Sunday night.
I missed it from last night but Sooners whipped the Horns 16-1 in the WCWS game #1.
Tonight the Horns up 2-0 in the early going but the OU centerfielder just made a fantastic catch to rob UT of a 2-run homer.
It was a heck of a catch.
Indeed, yall made me look it up
It’s just the top of the 5th but it feels like the Horns are now on the ropes as they’re currently down 6-2 to the Sooners.
Congrats to the Sooners on the 10-5 win and another national title in softball. 59-3 and as dominant a season in any team sport as you can imagine.
Congrats to the Longhorn women as well.
The Longhorn assistant coach seemed to be an ass.
Props to UT, Okie State, and UCLA for beating them.
Major congrats to the UT team as well, they were not supposed to be there.
A handy schedule for watching the supers…
These are eastern times.
Players to watch in the supers who are of draft interest…
1st round:
- OF Jordan Beck (Tennessee)
- RHP Blade Tidwell (Tennessee)
- OF Drew Gilbert (Tennessee)
- OF Jacob Melton (Oregon St.)
- LHP Cooper Hjerpe (Oregon St.)
- OF Brock Jones (Stanford)
- SS Peyton Graham (OU)
All the above players except two have either shown up in mocks or been specifically linked to the Astros. Gilbert and Hjerpe are plausible picks based on where they currently rank on the draft boards
2nd thru 5th round:
- C Dalton Rushing (Louisville)
- 3B Cayden Wallace (Arkansas)
- 2B Robert Moore (Arkansas)
- SS Jalen Battles (Arkansas)
- LHP Jake Bennett (OU)
- SS Tanner Schobel (Virginia Tech)
- C Cade Hunter (Virginia Tech)
- RHP Ben Joyce (Tennessee)
- 3B Trey Lipscomb (Tennessee)
- 1B Ivan Melendez (UT)
- C Silas Ardoin (UT)
- SS Trey Faltine (UT)
- LHP Pete Hansen (UT)
- C Hayden Dunhurst (Ole Miss)
- 3B/RHP Jack Brannigan (Notre Dame)
- OF Justin Boyd (Oregon St.)
Read the reason for his conduct after the game before you issue your final judgment. The Texas coach explained what happened in his post-game PC.
Can you provide a link or a synopsis regarding the UT coach’s comments? I couldn’t find anything when I looked.
It came in a notice from a Longhorn site, maybe Burnt Orange Nation. I do not have a link.
It apparently is this team’s tradition to give home run balls to the player’s family, but this umpire had not returned the ball, which came back on the field, to the UT dugout. The assistant coach was trying to get the ball from the umpire, which he finally did.
Not just the team’s, I think. If I heard correctly in an earlier broadcast, it’s a tradition at that tournament.
This is my understanding as well
Just reporting what I read. I was checking in on the score but was not watching the game.
