I went back and watched the Atlanta feed and their broadcast duo unsurprisingly doesn’t know the ground rules, but they said it looked to them that the ball bounced off the rail and straight onto the field. Probably because that’s exactly what happened. It’s crazy that New York simply assumes that it hit a wall when nothing I ever saw suggested that it did.
It’s not even a ground rule, it’s an OBR rule. Every yellow line in every stadium is in play. The call on the field was HR. I’m pretty confident MLB had zero desire to actually review anything.
It’s hard to imagine that none of the outfield cameras had any sort of view of the play.
