NL DH already reaping benefits, I guess.

I assume heā€™s there primarily to put AIS and tip his cap to the adoring crowds, but he still hit LH pitching pretty well last year, so a platoon-type DH/PH role is not entirely unreasonable.

-2.0 WAR for the last 5 years. And, yes, thatā€™s the first time Iā€™ve ever quoted or mentioned WAR in my 25 years here on the TZ.

Yeah, but what about his corrected AdfCvNmeORafvfdXcmdAfef.paf?

I have no interest in hearing about another dudeā€™s paf.

thatā€™s DOT paf. Changes everything.

Why not just get rid of second base?

Where would the ghost or zombie runner stand though?

The ghost just starts at third instead of second. They are trying to speed up the game anyway.

I actually donā€™t mind this change. I always thought it was arbitrary and goofy the way 2B was positioned anyway. All other 90-ft measurements on the bases are from the outside cornerā€¦except 2B. And itā€™s moving it 10.6 inches closer to home plateā€¦half the hypotenuse of a 15-inch square, and about 8 inches closer to 1B.

Viva la revolucion!

ETA: Thatā€™s with the current 15-inch bases and 17-inch home plate. If they increase the bases to 18-inches, the change in distance becomes the afformentioned 13.5 inches between 1B/2B and 2B/3B and close to 15 inches between HP/2B. Also assuming they donā€™t increase the size of the plateā€¦to sayā€¦36 inches.

How much time did you waste figuring this stuff out? Those minutes are gone forever.

I sometimes geek out over geometry.

For those of us who are visual learners. Here is the diagram of base set up from the rule book of the current set up.

So the change will make the line from base to base go from outer edge to outer edge.

The change would make the infield a square. Currently itā€™s a pentagon quadrilateral.

Ah, geometry. I aced plane geometry and understood it from the first day. High As every grading period. So I thought Iā€™d take solid geometry next. ā€œHow hard can it be? says I. Holy fuck! Incredibly hard. I never understood much of it and was lucky to escape with a (barely) passing grade and my life.

I wasnā€™t very good at geometry, so maybe that explains why, but Iā€™m not seeing a pentagon.

Iā€™m not very good when Iā€™ve had too much coffee. Itā€™s a quadrilateral. But not a parallelogram

And remember kids, all squares are rhombi, but not all rhombi are squares.
