I would assume so. I don’t remember hearing about the Cafe (but I’ll ask) unless it was part of the General Store, but the family had several business ventures, from Hye to JC to Sandy.
Any relation to the Criders’ Rodeo and Dance Hall in Hunt?
Different wing of the family, but yeah.

Stuffed ballot boxes shot them down.
All the poor boy wanted was a job, just like everybody else back then.
The boxes came way later.
I dated a girl from Alice in law school who said her relatives played canasta with the Duke of Duval, and one of which, she said, was the judge for Precinct 13.
I’m surprised that playing catcher without a mask allowed that nose to survive.
That is so fucking cool.
I was a lot cooler then.
We all were.
Did you really?
Yeah. Is that remarkable?
No, sorry
I didn’t think so. It seemed like every other girl I knew in law school was from Alice. I don’t know why. I’ve never been there, so I’ve always wondered about it.
ETA: I reckon that catchers must have worn masks? Even in central Texas in the 20s?
When I was at school for one semester in Kingsville back in the Fall of 74, I had a few dates with a gal from Alice but a gal from Falfurrias won my heart soon after. Then, soon after that, because I kept forgetting to go to class, I was back in Dallas at my mom and dad’s.
It’s hard to remember things like class when you’re young.
If there’s one thing this group has, it’s class.
We may be steerage class, but it’s class.
