Baseball Miscellany

This is delicious on so many levels:

I was watching that, and it was very confusing. Then I figured out what must have happened and relished in the Yankee fans booing.

Padres in full panic mode:

Lars Nootbaar is probably my new favorite baseball name

Forget scuffing and start buffing.

Did that ball actually ā€œcurve in the opposite directionā€? It didnā€™t behave like a typical split, but we really donā€™t know if that baseball was buffed smooth on the left side, do we?

Good question.

Iā€™ll see if I can find anything else about it.

So first, that video is 9 years old.

Second, there are several videos of FBs behaving that way.

I donā€™t know if that particular one just showed the grip/spin to illustrate the physics cleanly (clean backspin, dramatic break).

Holy fuck, that is super cool.

This seems like a very good idea:

Involve the people who use the product? Thatā€™s socialism if I ever saw it!

Whatever happened to let them eat cake?

Thatā€™ll get your head chopped off.

Everyone is gluten intolerant these days.

Now I want a gluten free cake in the shape of a baseball with sticky toffee icing.

This remains the lamest type of replay review.

Canā€™t believe they overturned that. It didnā€™t look 100% conclusive from those angles.

I thought it was clear in slomo but also BS. He clearly beat the throw and did not over slide the bag. A fraction of a second and a fraction of an inch that is only detectable in slow motion should not overrule the obvious safe call.

Agreed, Iā€™m not sure how one would write a rule to exclude those from replays, but those type of overturns suck.
