In other news. The indy league Kansas City T-Bones have changed their name. They have taken on the name of the Negro League Monarchs

The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, which owns rights to the Monarchs name, has entered into a long-term licensing agreement with the T-Bones. Beginning Thursday, the minor league team will be known as the Kansas City Monarchs Baseball Club. Officials hope the rebranding will bring more attention to both to the museum and to the beleaguered ball club in western Wyandotte County… As part of the agreement with the T-Bones, the museum will bring an exhibit to the T-Bones stadium and a traveling exhibit to away games.

I understand the move but still think T-Bones is a better name than 95% of all other team names.

The whole staff had a 2.66 that year. Of course, the NL ERA was just 3.49, and the Astrodome was still a cavern, but even adjusting for that, their ERA that season was comparable to the mid-'90s Braves of Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz.

Imagine J.R. Richard on that staff.

I remember those Dodgers were a RH-heavy offensive team. JR ate up RH hitters with that slider. Of course they were practically out of the batters box bailing on him.

Agreed. I think, agree or not, the scandal will hurt him but a good 6-7 year run will prove the haters wrong.
