You get the sense MLB’s media folks have been encouraging the outlandish dugout celebrations. It’s the kind of thing casual fans seem to enjoy on twitter, and at least a couple seasons ago, they were publicizing the heck out of them.
I don’t particularly miss Correa as much as I thought I might. It has nothing to do with his success or lack of. I still miss Springer though and I don’t know why that’s different with him, which is also regardless of his career post Houston.
I miss Uncle Mike. I don’t miss Bregman. No rhyme or
rhythm that I can tell yet.
But I do associate the parade of “props” after a HR with Bregman. That might be a clue….
I miss Springer.
He was a great Astro.
Had a First Officer at my old airline who played baseball with Springer at UConn and said he was a talent above everyone else, but a solid dude and great teammate.
+1…hated losing Springer, great defense and steady bat with power, also miss Yuli (although I know it was probably time because of age) 1st base has been a crapshoot since he was let go and may have cost us another WS title…
If the Astros were driving the negotiations, trying to ink a guy to a long-term deal three months into a breakout season is… interesting timing, from a value perspective.
If he does, he does. I don’t begrudge players for chasing the money. I wish I had those kinds of opportunities. I just will feel nothing for him if he does, just as I have no feelings about Springer, Correa, Bregman, Tucker, etc. I do think Gerrit Cole is a monumental dickhole, but not because he left via free agency.
I am fully aware that what I’m about to say is a wild assumption. So please please please take this with respect to him and his own journey.
If this has to do with addiction, I hope soooo much Ron gets the help he needs, the support he deserves, and the understanding from the people around him to take the next step he might need.
I also hope he’s not sick with some type of cancer or heart ailment.
