Baseball Miscellany

You get the sense MLB’s media folks have been encouraging the outlandish dugout celebrations. It’s the kind of thing casual fans seem to enjoy on twitter, and at least a couple seasons ago, they were publicizing the heck out of them.

Further, while I’ll always be grateful for his time as an Astro, I haven’t missed Shorea since he signed with Minnesota.

I’m especially not missing him this year.

I don’t particularly miss Correa as much as I thought I might. It has nothing to do with his success or lack of. I still miss Springer though and I don’t know why that’s different with him, which is also regardless of his career post Houston.

I miss Uncle Mike. I don’t miss Bregman. No rhyme or
rhythm that I can tell yet.

But I do associate the parade of “props” after a HR with Bregman. That might be a clue….

I miss Springer.
He was a great Astro.
Had a First Officer at my old airline who played baseball with Springer at UConn and said he was a talent above everyone else, but a solid dude and great teammate.

+1…hated losing Springer, great defense and steady bat with power, also miss Yuli (although I know it was probably time because of age) 1st base has been a crapshoot since he was let go and may have cost us another WS title…

Love me some Dubi…cool seeing the double Dubi the other day. Just rewatched the Dubi interview, how can you not love this guy?

I’m assuming this is why Boras is now his agent. We might ought to enjoy Pena being an Astro while we can.

If Pena wants to be an Astro, he will be. If he’s not, then he didn’t want to be. Period.

I agree. I just hope he doesn’t follow the path of greed like several other people I can think of.

If the Astros were driving the negotiations, trying to ink a guy to a long-term deal three months into a breakout season is… interesting timing, from a value perspective.

FWIW, KPRC says the Astros approached Pena “early in the season.”

If he does, he does. I don’t begrudge players for chasing the money. I wish I had those kinds of opportunities. I just will feel nothing for him if he does, just as I have no feelings about Springer, Correa, Bregman, Tucker, etc. I do think Gerrit Cole is a monumental dickhole, but not because he left via free agency.

Gotcha. That makes a lot more sense.

Ron Washington’s medical leave not ending any time soon. All the best to him.

I am fully aware that what I’m about to say is a wild assumption. So please please please take this with respect to him and his own journey.

If this has to do with addiction, I hope soooo much Ron gets the help he needs, the support he deserves, and the understanding from the people around him to take the next step he might need.

I also hope he’s not sick with some type of cancer or heart ailment.

The Phillies scored 13 runs in their game last night. Also they shut out Atlanta.

Rays had a 6-0 lead on the O’s and lost 22-8

This I think was turnabout from a couple weeks ago or so when the O’s got off to like
an 8-0 start over the Rays and ended up losing by four. Right?

Yep, lost 12-8
