Dodgers just DFA’d Jason Heyward (and his .208 average). But I’ll bet he can at least throw to the cut-off man without bouncing it.

HPU in this Venezuela-Japan LLWS game looks like he’s ready for the bigs, calling pitches 6”-12” outside strikes.

89th percentile arm strength. Heyward is not a good hitter but he’s no worse than what we’ve been trotting out there and he’s still very solid in the field.

We will always hate the Mariners. They are the Astros’ natural rivals, and the 'Stros only moved to the AL West so that they could face the Mariners more often. It’s one of the great rivalries in baseball: Yankees/Red Sox, Cubs/Cardinels, Dodgers/Giants, Astros/Mariners . . . After Scott Servaise, we’ll hate Dan Wilson.

Dan Wilson was .323/.323/.419 against the Astros for his career. Fuck Dan Wilson.

It’s too bad he was a catcher and not a closer.

Trader Jerry, said upon firing Servais. “Any old Cather will do, just not that guy anymore.”

History set to be made on Monday. On June 26th, the game between the Red Sox and the Blue Jays was suspended due to rain. Catcher Danny Jansen was at the plate for the Blue Jays when the game was suspended. Jansen has since been traded to the Red Sox. Alex Cora confirmed that Jansen will be behind the plate when the game resumes, meaning not only will Jansen be the first player in Major League history to play for both teams during the same game, he will be both the batter and catcher during the same plate appearance.

This will be my favorite thing to happen this season unless the Astros somehow win the World Series this year

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Bugs Bunny do it, I think he was pitching too.

LLWS ends on a bunt down the 1B line fielded by the pitcher, who tossed to first only noone was covering the bag.

The most incredible part is how the Astros managed to get to Williamsport in time to play in the game.

From MLB.com:
“Peña’s 12.1 WAR through his first three seasons is 10th highest by a SS in the last 50 seasons. He could surpass Cal Ripken Jr. (8th, 12.4) and Trevor Story (7th, 13.1) before the year ends

Is this where all of Tucker’s WAR went? Or does this make up for Looperfido’s WAR? (Asking for a friend…)

Seriously though, that’s surprising!

Another surprising stat I learned yesterday:

Joey Votto finished with a higher career OPS than Albert Pujols

I would have lost that bet.

So did Lance Berkman, who’s career OPS was also higher than Votto’s. Berkman, of course, never saw a second HOF ballot, while Pujols, and even Votto, apparently, are considered no-brainer first ballot guys.

I always thought was very underrated.

He should have been the MVP of the 2011 WS for the Turdinals. He was their most consistent batter.

Loved watching him work thru a PA and hunt for a pitch to hit.

If Yordan studied his home ABs it wouldn’t be safe to sit in the Crawford Boxes.

Berkman is tremendously underappreciated. For the lovers of OPS and think that’s the be all to end all…not only is Berkman’s higher than Votto’s and Pujols’s, it’s 31st highest in history, higher than Willie Mays, Joe Jackson, Vlad Guerrero, David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, Hank Aaron, Tris Speaker, Frank Robinson, Ken Griffey Jr…you get the idea.

Berkmans problem when it comes to HoF is counting numbers. He only really had 12 full seasons. Even 2 more full seasons and he stays on the ballet a few more years. 4 more seasons and he is absolutely in

Danny Jansen is about to become the 1st player in MLB history to play for both teams in the same game. Was with Toronto when the game was suspended and was traded to Boston later.
