Baseball Miscellany

I think it was two balls, one strike. It hit off the hitter’s knob and into the catcher’s knob. It was nuts.

I like how the ump specified which ball (“The ball, uh, the pitched ball”) hit the bat.

And the announce says “it hits the wood” (my inner middle schooler is laughing way to hard at this)

He didn’t want anyone to get testy with his ruling.

I did not know this

This should be required reading for any Astros’ fan that questions why does Maldy start so much.

If we’re taking roll, I guess this means there are at least 3 middle schoolers on the board - tho I suspect more…

Did Maldy also catch the WS no-hitter?

No. Vasquez did.

Thanks. I could not remember, and I knew we had Vazquez.

Listening to Effectively Wild, as I sometimes do, they were talking about Charlie Culberson. Culberson, famous around here for acting like he won the World Series after hitting a HR in game 2 2017, moments before his team lost that game.

He has spent 2 full months on the Braves roster this season, in that time, he has played 1 game and had 1 AB. 1 game. In 2 months. Good work, if you can get it. He was DFA’d today.

Is Sam Miller back?

He came back for the 2000th episode but no he’s not a regular anymore. Still just Ben and Meg. They are fine but I do miss Sam and even Jeff

I can’t hang with Meg.

She’s very hit and miss for me. I use to almost never miss an episode but lately I read the synopsis before I listen

I bailed after Sam left. It was always great just listening to how his mind works.

He is someone I consider an unwitting friend. By which I mean, the fact that we have never met has no bearing on the fact that we are very good friends.

Shut up Meg

This first inning made me happy again

Joe Fuckwad Kelly in in the 4th for LA, which should tell you how valuable they think he really is. And then he throws a wild pitch to score a run. Words cannot express my sorrow.
