Wow, I remember when people were saying what a great hire Jon Daniels was. Never was a fan.

I had the same thought, Steve. My Ranger fan friend will be overjoyed about Daniels.
Those first two better be packing their bags. Kemp might be welcome in Houston.
I’d take Marisnick over Kemp.
I mean he was a great hire. I hate the Rangers as much as anyone, and Daniels has made some really bad moves recently, but he did oversee the best stretch that franchise has ever had and it’s not even a little bit close.
They hired John Hart who came in and tried to use high priced veterans to win with disastrous consequences.
Hart essentially named his replacement in Daniels. Daniels was in his late 20s I think.
I found him annoying then. I felt he sounded like a 12 year old kid trying to talk like an adult. Media and team officials would say ‘mature beyond his years’.
He made a series of blunders starting out, but landing Hamilton was a major key in their resurgence. And he put the team together that won back to back pennants.
Then the decline, new ownership, new stadium, new GM with a ‘promotion’ to team president.
I think Woodward was his hire.
Daniels was just the last remnant from the prior regime.
Really, it seems like they went back to using that similar approach by adding Seager and Semien. They spent an absurd amount of money doing so.
Consistent with this Reds season I suppose…
