It also still allows the hope that the Yankees will shit the bed even if they’re better.
This is one of the reasons that under the old league system I thought winning the pennant was more of an accomplishment than winning the World Series. Of course you had to win the pennant to get in, but winning your league was the accomplishment, not a random 7-game series against a team that didn’t even play the same competition.
Wheeler is Dealing
I grew up in a world of WCs but I did somewhat experience this when I played a historical save on Out of the Park this year starting as the expansion Colt 45s.
Now obviously it’s just a computer game but reaching the World Series was far harder than winning it.
2-out walk, single, E6 and the Braves are off the schneid.
And it’s now 4-3 as Wheeler stopped dealing.
Also the refrain at the end of the song is an homage to this commercial from 1971 and its tag line. I like GBV.
Braves are not fucking around
Braves take the lead in the 8th after a HBP and home run
That swing just flipped that series. One handed swing even.
Leadoff HBP was a huge help
There was one out, but yeah, hitting Acuña was going to bite you.
Wheeler had a 4-0 lead and was throwing a no-hitter in the 6th. They trail 5-4 in the 8th.
If you put him on with nobody in front of him, you spend your time thinking about preventing him from reaching 3rd and not about pitching to the hitter.
He was already on 3B. It wasn’t a bad pitch Riley hit, curveball down that fooled him. Riley was way out in front, and swung with one hand. But it’s Atlanta. In October.
You could say… this game has turned upside down.
He golfed the hell out of that ball, and hit it 375 feet or more
Braves closer in after the leadoff walk to Harper. They just said this is his first inherited runner all season. That’s amazing.
91 MPH change…damn.
