Tonight, he was. For the season, in 119 at bats, he has by far his best OPS (.795) batting 2nd.

Until he learns to lay off sliders below the zone, it’s the best spot in the order for him.

Batting your best hitter right now fifth is not maximizing his number of at bats either.

I like it. I would be back and forth on swapping Alvarez and Tucker.

Touché. At this point, if it breaks, Jeremy should not swing. Only exception being cement mixers.

The truth is our #2 hitter has yet to play a game this season.

Peña regressed from last season. Full on retreated from last postseason.

Sophomore slumps are real, and Jeremy is finding out the hard way that the league has adjusted to him.

I wish Michael Brantley’s shoulder would magically heal, I just can’t count on it anymore.

This is a bad Yankees team decimated by injuries, losing this series will be very embarrassing.

I will never say I know better than Dusty or any professional manager but why was Diaz on the bench when he’s one of the best hitters on the team vs RHP and 4 of tonights starters are15% below MLB average or worse.

He’s the only guy besides Bregman who hits RHP better than LHP

This team NEEDED a bat at the deadline to play vs RHSP.

wRC+ vs RHP
Alvarez 177
Altuve 170
Diaz 145
Bregman 142
McCormick 141
Tucker 126
Julks 87
Meyers 85
Abreu 79
Pena 71
Dubon 65
Kessinger 52
Maldy 32

Anyone who wanted to go Altuve, Tucker, Bregman, Alvarez wouldn’t get much argument from me

NO!!!

Vs RHP I would go:

Altuve, Bregman, Alvarez, Diaz, Tucker, McCormick.

You are obsessed with RHP.

I like Yainer Diaz, but he is not ready to bat cleanup for this team. I’d bat Alvarez and Tucker back-to-back before batting Diaz cleanup.

Thanks Jim.

I know I am. I hope I’m wrong.

That is a fair point.

And I have no problem hitting Yordan and Tucker 3rd and 4th. That sounds good to me.

Diaz ahead of Peña but otherwise I’m on board.

I don’t really care where Yainer bats, I just want him in the fukkin lineup.

We must at least split this series. Missed a good chance at one win last night. Javier continues to befuddle me as does the offense. I did not see the game so I do not know if hitting in some bad luck was a part of it.

  1. Machete catches Javier, at Javier’s request.
  2. The left field at Yankee Stadium is notoriously spacious, so your best bet is Chas in LF and Meyers in CF.
  3. So now you’re down to Yordan or Diaz at DH. Are you really benching Yordan?
