It looks like Maldonado has never caught Stanek in his life.
With as little as he got used last year, that kind of tracks.
Ballgame.
What an absolutely putrid effort.
Another frustrating early season loss.
Good thing you had Pressly face the bottom of the order instead of the middle.
B 10th, 1 out 1-1 Astros (1 out)
Miranda (runners 1st & 3rd, 1 out) single to Kyle, Buxton scores, Larnach to 2nd.
Solano WP, runners advance to 2nd & 3rd, mound visit, 2-0, 3-0 (in dirt), IBB (loaded, 1 out)
Game over!
Farmer ground single to Chas, Larnach scores.
Twins end with 2 for 11 RISP (both hits in the 10th).
Poop.
The apparently official ruling was wp x 2.
Dusty Baker is an awful strategic manager.
Not. News.
I was going to say this exact thing.
That’s fucking ridiculous.
That. Was. Fugly.
I would love to hear the fucked up reasoning behind having Pressly pitch the 9th and Stanek the 10th.
Dusty gonna Dusty.
They pitched Pressly consistently in the 9th in tie games last season iirc. Game 1 of the WS, right?
I don’t know what their record was in those situations.
So in the 10th, you got strikeout, passed ball, walk, single, passed ball, walk, single.
Awesome.
Regardless of what they do/did, it’s fucking stupid. Wasting the guy that’s supposed to protect leads against 8 9 1 in a time game… Why?
10th.
At home, I get it, but when you know you still have to go at least two more innings, and you can’t win in the 9th, using your closer against the bottom of their order is just nuts.
Post game presser…Dusty saying Maldonado just couldn’t see with the shadows and the glare coming off the CF fence behind the pitcher.
