It was the right play with the speed of the batter. That ball wasn’t hit hard enough for the dp.

If Maldonado is not playing with a sense of urgency, I would hope Dusty would sit him. His base running blunder in the Oakland series was unacceptable.

I mean, once he misplayed the ball in the first place, he had to go to first and ensure one out. Both the baserunners were booking it.

It was an easy DP ball, but once he kicked it, it was all about minimizing the damage, which he did. A knucklehead would have stumbled around snd gotten no outs.

All he has to do is take one step to 2B. You get the lead runner and keep one out of scoring position.
