I’m with you except for this - Paredes came out as soon as the three batter rule allowed
You are right. I forget that rule daily.
Good example of an umpire’s bad calls blamed on “Astros cheating.”
Nah, not really.
Just a few fucking idiots on Twitter being fucking idiots.
That is what I meant but was not precise enough: The comments, not the site.
People are the worst.
Especially hypocritical coming from Red Sox fans.
On the whole, Boston sports fans maybe worse people than the NYC sports fans.
Excellent distinction. Having lived in Vermont for the last 15 months, I am finding most New England baseball fans to be knowledgeable, reasonable and quite embarrassed about Boston fans specifically, even though they are both Red Sox fans.
NY fans tend to be ignorant, arrogant, and abrasive.
Boston fans combine all of that with insecurity and casual racism.
A coworker/buddy and I scheduled a layover in NY flying back from a meeting.
We went to a Yankees game (last season of the old stadium; A-Fraud hit 2 homers but the second one hit concrete stairs behind the fence and bounced back so he settled for a double, umps missed it -Ha!).
I had a camera with me and snapped a few picks from time to time.
The dude in front of me sees me doing that and starts sticking his hand up to block my view. He sees me see him and gives a big shit eating grin and stops.
Now this was the loge level, so not the suites but not the cheap seats either.
And this clown looked to be in his 20s/30s and was wearing a shirt and tie.
What an asshole.
Kris and I went to new Yankee maybe three years ago. I wore my Altuve jersey. We were in the boxes, and the people around us were as nice as they could be. There was a rain delay, so we stood in the causeway. A 30-something, nicely dressed, walked by and tried to knock me down. His companion dragged him off yelling at him. Yankee fans aren’t all assholes, but when they are they’re a special kind of asshole.
This was before the cheating frenzy, but post 2017.
I remember watching Cole warm up in Yankee Stadium before Game 5 in 2019 with all the animals who inhabit the OF seats screaming at him. I remember wondering how the fuck he could consider playing there. The answer for him was money, of course.
The Red Sox needed this…
- Houston couldn’t get a shutdown inning in this one. Dusty Baker’s crew scored in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings. And every time, the Red Sox answered in the bottom of the frame.
- There were six lead changes, most in a game this year, according to MLB.com.
On the verge of getting SWEPT @ HOME, this game was like “their” Game 5 of the 2017 WS (was it 8 lead changes in that game?)
